Far Cry is one of the most esteemed shooter franchises out there, which is why everyone is always excited to try out a new entry. While the fourth installment basically focuses on tried-and-true mechanics and a familiar setup, it does throw a few twists into the mix. That nifty wingsuit is a good example.

For one of the more entertaining and comprehensive reviews out there, make sure to check out EGM’s. Critic Josh Harmon does a great job introducing the reader to the tumultuous world of Kyrat, and why its blend of over-the-top action and dysfunctional craziness is really quite enticing.

If you want to know what’s new and which of the fresh additions work best, this is the review for you. We also get a candid take on the aforementioned familiar formula, and why the lack of advancement and innovation does have an impact. Sure, it’s great to get something we’ve loved in the past but in order to make a splash in the new generation, perhaps Ubisoft could’ve gone for more…

There's always plenty to do in the intimidating land of Kyrat.

Why We Like It:

— It’s a well-appointed, well-balanced review. The critic doesn’t spend too long harping on one particular point, and makes sure the analysis moves right along.

— There’s a proper acknowledgement of what has always made the franchise great, mixed with a wee bit of disappointment. This strikes the reader as an exceedingly fair evaluation.

— The critic uses plenty of gameplay examples, which helps prove that he spent a sufficient amount of time with the product. It’s always pretty obvious when a reviewer doesn’t take the requisite amount of time.

Congrats, Josh!

It’s not really my thing but I understand its appeal to FPS players. Saw a little of the villain in a trailer…too twisted for me. 😀

Damn good game. Story sucks but still a damn good game.

I wish I could get into the Far Cry games but I never can. Not really sure why. By all rights I should love them but……….I don’t.
