If There’s One Watch Dogs Review to Read, It’s Machinima’s
Disclaimer: Considering the sheer size of the game in question, we will select two honored sources. Here’s the first.
Not only is it one of the most anticipated games in recent memory, it would undoubtedly produce the most scrutinized reviews.
It’s a worthy challenge for any critic, and we’ve been reading Watch Dogs reviews all day, trying to select our favorite. It has been interesting to see the wildly different approaches: Some critics want to focus on expectations vs. reality, while others emphasize the “futuristic GTA” angle. But after much debate, we’ve settled on InsideGamingDaily’s (Machinima’s flagship brand) analysis, which was written by Editor-in-Chief Rob Smith.
Why We Like It:
— The overall tone and style. There’s a cordiality to the writing, an inviting style that encourages us to keep reading. At the same time, this laid-back approach doesn’t translate to a lack of detail or information.
— With such a huge game, it’s tough to mention everything. We’re impressed with this critic’s ability to offer a complete, all-encompassing analysis. Some will scoff, saying this is always the critic’s job…but do you have any idea how difficult it is to do with a game this massive? And remember, you still have to be entertaining.
— The review isn’t just a rundown of the major points and highlights. It also gives us several minute yet intriguing details, which not coincidentally reflect the experience in question.
