Pure Xbox’s Fortified Review Makes Our Day
While you wait for the AAA projects to come storming down the video game highway in 2016, you might want to check out some of the smaller indie titles currently available on various platforms. One of the most recent is an intriguing little strategy-based game called Fortified, where humans must build and defend against an onslaught of invading aliens.
As you might expect, there aren’t a ton of reviews out there for this one, but we happen to like the evaluation offered by Pure Xbox. Critic Josephine Lawton pens a solid, engaging review that keeps us interested while touching on all the important points. We learn about the quality of the gameplay and technical elements, and how the good blends with the bad. Perhaps most importantly, the critic doesn’t skimp on the detail just because the game isn’t a huge production. While it’s certainly true that smaller titles don’t require as much analysis, it’s unfair (and unprofessional) to be dismissive when reviewing any game.
So, if you’re wondering whether or not Fortified will satisfy your hankering for some lighthearted yet relatively in-depth entertainment, here’s the review to read. For the record, this is Pure Xbox’s first nod at VGRHQ.
Why We Like It:
— It’s an informative and well-appointed review; the critic doesn’t shrug her shoulders and just say, “meh, it’s a little indie game so you don’t need that much info, right?”
— Touches on all the important points without taking any unnecessary tangents or harping on any particular point for too long. In other words, it’s balanced.
— Focuses heavily on the gameplay, which is always a good idea, especially when gameplay is the obvious focal point.
