USGamer’s Review Of Super Mario Maker Wii U Is A Joy To Read

Wonderfully creative and appealing, Super Mario Maker Wii U will make you smile.

Ah, Mario. There’s just something about this timeless icon that never seems to get old. However, in this day and age, you have to offer the gamer a twist on the standard formula (even if Nintendo seems to be masters of enjoying success with the same ol’ same ol’). That’s why we got Super Mario Maker Wii U, which gives you control over the video game icon and his surrounding environment.

Critics are loving the balance between modern-day level design and retro gameplay, and that includes USGamer. Critic Jeremy Parish dives gleefully into this review, giving us a complete analysis that is highly informed and readable. Combining some historical background with an in-depth analysis of the game in question, the result is arguably the best review out there.

There’s also a nice candid and personal flavor to the article, which you don’t see enough. Well, you see it, but too many amateur critics don’t seem to know the difference between a soapbox rant and an actual review. Subjectivity and personal opinion are always part of it but they’re supposed to be worked into a professional evaluation, and that’s precisely what Parish does. Good job, we say.

This is Parish’s second honor here at VGRHQ; he was first recognized for his excellent The Last Of Us: Remastered review.

Why We Like It:

— Above all else, it’s a well-rounded and complete review that gives us a little of everything, from accessibility to detail.

— Effectively blends point-by-point breakdowns with the personal experience of playing the game, which lets readers better see what he liked and what he didn’t like.

— We especially like the intro and end, both of which do their jobs exceedingly well. One gets us to keep reading and the other sums everything up nicely.
