Rise Of The Tomb Raider Vs. Uncharted 4: Xbox Vs. PlayStation?

It’s often head-and-shoulders above the competition but now things may have changed…

The new Tomb Raider is published by Microsoft. Before the overwhelming success of the previous reboot, this might not have mattered much.

Now, however, everyone is expecting a stellar follow-up adventure and this time around, it’s exclusive to the Xbox platform. Back when Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune burst onto the scene, everyone remarked how similar it was to the iconic Lara Croft series. Many just ended up describing it as Tomb Raider with a dude, or something like that.

But the revered Tomb Raider IP had fallen on tough times, and Uncharted picked up the slack big time. It became one of the highest-rated franchises in video game history and now, after hundreds of Game of the Year Awards for the first three entries (not counting Golden Abyss on the Vita, which was also fantastic), it’s an elite name.

Rise of the Tomb Raider may not have what it takes to combat Uncharted 4, but you never know…

Thanks to the efforts of Crystal Dynamics, though, Tomb Raider has returned to form. Many would argue that the reboot deserved several GotY nods, even if it wasn’t quite on par with the likes of Uncharted. This means that 2015 to 2023, we could be looking at an epic confrontation between two very similar installments. Furthermore, there’s the added benefit of a console war…

That’s right, with Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusive to Xbox and Uncharted exclusive to PlayStation, you can just predict the PlayStation vs. Xbox freak-outs that will pepper the Internet around the time these two games release next year. That being said, we wonder if the new Lara Croft quest was designed specifically with the Xbox One in mind. As we all know, Naughty Dog is a whiz with PlayStation platforms, as they’re a first-party team.

Crystal Dynamics is not, though. Therefore, perhaps it’s not a fair comparison? Maybe it isn’t and yet, everyone is gonna compare these two games, and that’s that.
